GDPR/AVG

AVG (General Data Protection Regulation)

As of May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is applicable. This means that from that date, the same privacy legislation applies throughout the European Union (EU). The Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp) no longer applies.

The AVG is also known by its English name: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What will change because of the AVG?

The AVG provides, among other things:

  • Strengthening and expanding privacy rights;
  • More responsibilities for organizations;
  • Same, robust powers for all European privacy regulators.
