Future-proof parking garage Olympic Stadium Amsterdam
The parking garage of the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, an iconic venue built for the 1928 Olympic Games and now a national monument and athletics track, has been equipped with a future-proof parking solution from IP Parking. This historic venue plays an important role in the sporting and cultural heritage of the Netherlands and is used for various events. The parking garage with a capacity of 850 parking spaces was recently equipped with a new future-proof parking system from IP Parking. This system promotes traffic flow, is easy to manage and guarantees reliable service.
The challenge
The Olympic Stadium was looking for a hybrid parking system that supports both ticket-based and ticketless parking. There was a demand for a solution that improves traffic flow and meets the needs of various user groups, including P+R users, event visitors, regular visitors and season ticket holders. In addition, user-friendly functionality for validating parking tickets was a key focus.
The solution
To improve traffic flow, the exit ramp was relocated and all entrances and exits were brought together in one central location. This created additional space within the garage. The four entrances and exits, including a dedicated P+R lane, are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The system currently operates on a ticket basis, but is prepared for a future transition to a ticketless or hybrid parking system.
The system has a link to a Booking Agent API, allowing parking spaces to be reserved in advance. Subscribers get access based on license plate recognition, and can automatically drive through, also contributing to improved traffic flow. Surrounding businesses can validate their guests' parking tickets easily and efficiently using the IP2 Recode.
