Tysons, VA - IP Parking has completed the largest ticketless parking facility in the Washington, DC region at Tysons II. Tysons II is a large-scale area development of approximately 47 acres in Northern Virginia.
The site is managed by Colonial Parking and includes five buildings, 1600, 1650, 1750, 1775 and 1800 Tysons Boulevard. The area has a mix of offices, retail and hospitality. Think office towers, luxury shopping at Tysons Galleria, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and several exclusive restaurants.
The system consists of 32 entries and exits and is rolled out across four facilities with a total of 6,412 spaces. It serves different audiences such as short-term parkers, tenants, hotel guests, retail visitors, restaurant visitors and employees.
Tysons II operates on a large scale, processing more than 90,000 transactions monthly. Despite the complexity of the location (continuous traffic flows, need for centralized command and control, large numbers of users with different parking rights) and the diversity of user groups, the system achieves a match rate of 95%-98% thanks to integrated N-1/N-2 functionalities and compact AI cameras with varifocal adaptation. In addition, a payment rate of 100% is achieved by the dummy plate solution at exits, where if no license plate recognition is detected, a preset amount is charged and later still matched. This ensures a stable and reliable ticketless operation.
As a result, revenue increased over the previous conventional ticketing system, while operational costs were reduced.
