Ferdy, Project Engineer

I have been working in electrical engineering since I was 16 years old. At that time I worked for an electrical company, which was located in the same building as IP Parking. That's how I first came into contact with the world of parking. At that time, however, I was still gaining a lot of work experience at my former employer and I still studied in the evening for senior mechanic in power current (level 4).

After 8 years I completed my studies and it was time for a new challenge. I went to work at a specialist in access control, where I came into contact with weak current and ICT (software). This was very interesting for me and I quickly mastered it. I had a great time until one day Jimmy Smulders, director of IP Parking, approached me and told me that he had heard that I had left the electrical company. He knew me from my previous employer and invited me for a conversation about working at IP Parking.

I was of course immediately interested because I already was familiar with IP Parking. It felt like "old times". I was asked to set up new projects, especially in the field of network and software. This was music to my ears. I was very exciting, because I didn't have a lot of experience with networking, but by doing one learns! During these years at IP Parking I have broadened my knowledge in many areas. I enjoy going to work every day and every day is different. For example, one day I'm checking a system in the sun and the next day I'm working on a new project in our workshop in Deurne.

I am a father of two (3 and 1 year old) and because of the flexible working hours I can combine work and private life well. I like to start early and at IP Parking this is not a problem. One day I'm already at a project in Groningen at 7am and the other day I'm at the office at 6am. I like sports and because I start working early I can go to the gym at the end of the afternoon. Then, I'm home in time to have dinner with my family. Because of this flexibility I experience a lot of freedom. In busy times we work more hours than usual, but it never feels like an obligation. It's something I like to do, also because I can influence the planning.

What I also really like is the high quality that IP Parking strives for. All projects has to be delivered well. This is also why I can do my job with satisfaction . We are also provide enough time to maintain high quality.

Corporate parties, arranged by our employee association, are organised on a regular basis and I think that's great! If you want, you can visit our bar every Friday after work to have a drink. This really gives a feeling of togetherness. If you have a private challenge, colleagues come to a rescue to help you solve it. I get a lot of appreciation at IP Parking.

In short...I feel good at IP Parking and have a great time!
