Great results from our project "Bicycle parking 2.0" we did with Siemens for the Dutch Railways company (NS).
On Monday, February 4, State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven paid a short working visit to the self-service bicycle parking facility of ProRail and NS Stations at Zwolle station. NS Stations had good news: travelers are more satisfied with self-service bicycle parking. In 2018 almost 89% of the travelers gave a 7 or higher to self-service bicycle parking. In 2017 that was still 83%. And in 2016 with the old grating fence that was 75%.
More satisfied travelers also lead to better use of the parking facility
In Zwolle, the occupancy of self-service bicycle parking rose enormously: an increase of no less than 161% compared to 2015! The state secretary also informed about the possibilities for public transport bicycle in self-service bicycle parking. Now passengers still pick up the key of the public transport bicycle from a key dispenser in self-service bicycle storage. The public transport bicycle will soon have a smart slot and passengers will be opening the public transport bicycle with their OV-chipcard. The first tests will start soon.
