Of the 2,000 cars, 1,500 parking spaces intended for employees of Utrecht University, University Medical Center Utrecht and future companies in the Utrecht Science Park. The remaining 500 parking spaces are provided for P + R. These are public parking spaces with a day ticket for tram and bus.
The car park has the possibility to switch to an other type of transport, public transport and cycling. By this, the area behind can easily be reached.
Under the garage is also a bicycle parking, tram and bus stop. They have taken account of the pedestrians who want to make use of the means of transport. There is also a climbing wall for climbers on the south facade of the parking garage.
The garage has a unique structure to prevent a lot of search traffic. After the entrance, a choice is made between the "yellow" and "green" zone. These layers are going to - and - to move up. This saves half the traffic in the garage.In the car park there will be charging points for electric cars. These are delivered by IP Parking. In the start-up this will be 4 pieces, later, this become 48 pieces.
The parking equipment provides the possibility of choosing only for parking or the choice to make use of the public transport and parking. The rate is based on this.
The project is a collaboration of the Municipality of Utrecht High School Utrecht, Utrecht Medical Centre and Utrecht University.Advisors to include the parking system is by Movares and Spark parking.
Attractive and accessible city
Offering P + R locations on major roads of the city is part of a coherent package of measures aimed at encouraging cycling and use of public transport, improve the flow of traffic and clean transport. The city of Utrecht wants to keep the city liveable and accessible and remain an attractive location.
Parking for employeesThe four sides attach great importance to good and sustainable access to the city of Utrecht and private facilities. UMC Utrecht, the University and the College wants to provide their employees with these garage parking with an ability to take public transport or bike. The P + R facility limits the parking and traffic pressure in the Uithof. That is good for accessibility, viability and further development of the area.
The jury of the international BIM Awards described this P + R project at the Uithof as worlds best "concrete project". The main reason for the profit: everything to the garage is skewed.
